Belgium will raise the gambling age!

Belgium has just announced that it will raise the minimum age for which people can legally gamble claiming they want to protect the most vulnerable parts of their society. The Belgian government is torn between raising the minimum age for online gambling from 18 to 21 years of age. As statistics have it, 1 in 5 underage youth are now involved in some form of online gambling. Sports Betting is the major form of gambling however, there are various others that are taking a toll.

Belgium legalized gambling in 1999 and ever since, they have revisited the laws to ensure all gambling-related content is safe and relatively regulated. In 2010 they introduced new policies to ensure that gambling advertising on the internet was in fact, legitimate. It is a huuuge deal in Belgium to be caught playing, promoting or operating (all different fines of course) an unauthorized site.
